Script Feedback

I sent my script to all of my actors and each one has said that they thought it was very funny. One even described it as sounding "awesome". This confirms my theory that the script was good, I do not think I will be making many more revisions to it. One of my actors claims that he was holding back tears because he was laughing so much at one piece of dialogue.

Location Scouting

Locations found. I will put up photos at the weekend. I have decided on Brandon Woods, my house, my friends house/ his street among others.

Facebook Chat

I created a chat on Facebook called "Writers Block" and added anyone involved in the movie. This has given me direct contact to everyone when I need them.

Editing Training

I used iMovie on the mac. I was given a few tips and I have discovered that it is a very simple piece of software. I feel that using this software will allow me to speed up the editing time.

New Cast Member

Antonio Casarrubias has been cast as the voice of the alien character in the first sketch. His role will be limited to a few lines of dialogue while another actor will helm the suit.

Michael Rooker Cameo

Michael Rooker is my favorite actor and I contacted his agent to see if he would be available to do a quick cameo in the movie.

Michael Rooker is busy right now but might be able to do the cameo in January which would be great. 

Alien Costume

I have found a costume which I would like to use for the alien.  This costume cost £16 and is very effective in my opinion.

Auditions

Callum
Callum did his audition via Skype. He will be playing the character who we have now named after him "Callum".  For the audition we read through the opening scene together and he read his lines in character and I liked his performance.

Script

I have written my first draft of my script. It is fairly simplistic at the moment and does not include all the camera shots/ angles but it does get the basic story across. While writing this script I did not do any additional research on script writing as I have previous experience with writing scripts.

I like this script and I think the narrative if good. I do think that I may have to trim some bits down when it comes to filming but right now the script is good.

Survey Response Reactions

My main audience seems to be 17 or younger. This could be a result of putting the survey on Facebook because most of my contacts are of a similar age to me.

My audience is mostly male. This means I should tailor the movie for my male demographic.

 Everyone watches comedies.

 Most people are willing to watch short comedy movies. Apparently people watch them more than normal comedy movies

 Dark comedy is the preferred type of comedy. This is good because it fits in fairly well with my idea.

Interestingly jokes are the least important aspect of a comedy according to my audience. This is good because most of the humour in my movie comes from the narrative.
